Who am I?

Janet McIntyre is an award-winning multi-disciplinary artist with over 25 years of experience in the creative arts. My documentaries and short films have been featured on Showtime, NBC’s NIGHTLINE, ABC News and are part of the permanent collections of the Museum of Moving Image, NYC, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and the Oxford Consortium for Human Rights. My paintings have been exhibited nationally at Walker Art Center, Minneapolis and University of Montana and throughout the Northwest including Blackfish Gallery, Oregon Art Center, Gallery 408 and Verum Ultimum Gallery.

I’m a storyteller: whether it’s on the page, on the stage or on canvas. Dance has always been a big part of my life. Perhaps that’s why I dance from one medium to another, never staying in one place for too long. I grew up in Chicago, the daughter of a Flamenco dancer and a mathematician. I hold a BFA in Painting from University of Illinois and an MFA in Film from New York University. The fifteen years I served as a loyal companion to my beautiful, adventurous canine, Brando, were inspirational. He taught me how to see our world.

“Art should transform into our daily lives, teaching us that there are no limits to individual pursuits; that our own possibilities are infinite.”
